Second Sunday of Easter
April 26, 2020
St John's Reformed Church of Loysburg
Rev. Dr. David M. Meckley, Pastor
Message: In Whom Do You Now Trust?
Scripture: Isaiah 36-37
Call to Worship (Psalm 34:1-6, 8)
I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
Let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together!
I sought the Lord,
And He answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to Him are radiant,
Their faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor man cried,
And the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him!
Prayer of Confession: Eternal God, we confess our need for Your Spirit to fill us and work through us. We confess how often our lives fail to reflect the victory your Son has secured for us on Calvary. Forgive us for our sins and for our lukewarm response to Your love. Restore to us the joy of our salvation, as You breathe afresh Your Holy Spirit upon us. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.

Call To Worship (1 Chronicles 29:11-13):
To You, O God, belong the greatness and the might, the glory, the victory, the majesty, the splendor;
Yes! Everything in heaven, everything on earth; the kingdom all Yours! You’ve raised Yourself high over all.
Riches and glory come from You, You’re ruler over all;
You hold strength and power in the palm of Your hand to build up and strengthen all.
And here we are, O God, our God, giving thanks to You,
Praising Your glorious Name!
Prayer of Confession:
O loving and compassionate God, we come to You worn out by conflict and competition. Our minds are distracted, our hearts divided, our bodies exhausted. We have consumed our energy in meaningless rituals, spent our time on trivia, and wasted our talents in self-gratification. Lord, have mercy on us. Take us today as we are and remake us into what You want us to be. By Your Holy Spirit, work in us a wholehearted trust that enables us no longer to be conformed to this world but to be confirmed in the living way that brings wholeness and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Rev. Dr. David M. Meckley, Pastor
Good Friday Message: Good News!
Scripture: Isaiah 53:1-12
Call to Worship (Isaiah 52:7, 9-10):
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news
Who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness,
who publishes salvation
Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
Break forth together into singing, you waste places of Jerusalem, for the Lord has comforted His people; He has redeemed Jerusalem.
The Lord has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations
And all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
Prayer of Confession Response:
